ℹ️ This feature is available only to Pro users.
If you have 2D and 3D files that you want to see or modify in Shapr3D, you have several options to start the import:
- In your design, select the Import button in the Top bar.
- In Designs, select Import.
- In Designs, select the plus sign to create a new design and select Import file.
- In your design, select Add and then File.
The Import dialog appears, and you can decide if you want to import files in your iPad or iCloud, or photos from your Photos app. Optionally, you can use the camera to take a photo and import that immediately.
The source file you’ve imported will appear as a new item or item folder in your design space’s Items manager. If you imported a 3D model in STEP format, the hierarchical structure of the source model is retained in Shapr3D; so, the bodies that were grouped together in the same unit (assemblies, parts, components, etc.) are organized into nested folders in the Items manager.
Note: If you’re importing 3D models, make sure that your source file is not damaged or corrupt and your iPad has enough memory to process the import. The file should contain 3D geometry and the source model should fit the available design space in Shapr3D: 1 km3.
