In Shapr3D, everything starts with a sketch. It’s the foundation of your 3D models. To sketch, use your mouse/trackpad to draw different types of lines with the tools offered in the Sketch menu.
Some of the basic sketching tools you'll use include Line and Arc.
Follow these steps to draw your sketch:
- Switch to 2D view.
There are several methods:
a. Select one of the views from the Orientation Cube or View in the menu bar.
b. If you’re using a mouse, hover over a face and press the Space bar.
c. If you’re using the trackpad, double-click a face with two fingers. - Select Sketch.
- Use the sketch tools to draw lines, arcs, splines, polygons, and other shapes, and constraint tools (or auto-constraint) to fine-tune your drawing. You can use snapping to make your sketches more precise as well.
- If you're drawing a line or arc with your mouse or trackpad, then click to add endpoints. An arc requires a third point. To place the last temporary line segment and finish the line or finish the arc, press the Return key. To remove the last temporary line segment or remove the arc, secondary-click (right-click) with your mouse or press one of the following:
- Delete
- Escape
Note that the sketch tool will remain active even after you finish drawing the shape.

When you select it, the point’s color changes to blue; then, you can drag it anywhere. To deselect the point, click anywhere on the empty area. - Click on an empty surface or Close when you’re done.
If you create a closed sketch, you can create 3D models from them; a closed sketch’s filling should be selectable and light blue in 3D view. When a sketch is closed, they automatically become profiles for extruding, sweeping, lofting, and revolving.
