Why should I link designs to my Shapr3D account?
The app’s Shapr3D Sync, a design sync feature, is in the beta phase and it requires your Shapr3D account and designs to be connected. If your account and the work you create are not linked, the design sync feature will not be able to work properly and safely. Please note that linking designs to your account doesn't affect how you use Shapr3D today.
I'm not subscribed to a paid plan. Do I still need to link designs to my Shapr3D account?
Even if you're currently using the Basic plan (free version of Shapr3D), you need to link your designs to your account so you can prep for some features that will be released in the future. Linking will not affect your current Shapr3D experience.
Will Shapr3D become a cloud-based product in the future?
No. Shapr3D Sync will be optional for users and you're free to opt in or out of it anytime. Your designs will continue to be stored locally on your devices, and Shapr3D Sync will only be used to sync designs between your devices and back up your files.
If I link my designs to my Shapr3D account, will my designs automatically sync from now on?
No, your designs will not be automatically synced to Shapr3D Sync. To enable automatic syncing, you will have to switch on Sync in the app settings. Note that you can only link all designs at once, not some designs.
Can I still access my designs locally on my device after I link my designs to my Shapr3D account?
Yes. Your designs will continue to exist locally on your device, so you'll be able to access them whenever you want as long as you're logged in to the linked account on that device.
What's the benefit of linking designs to my Shapr3D account?
This is a prerequisite for Shapr3D Sync, which is in the beta phase. You'll have the option to sync your designs across your iPad and Mac devices — and Windows devices, later.
Shapr3D Sync is the solution you need if:
You're getting a new device and you need to transfer your designs from your old device to your new one.
With Shapr3D Sync, you won't have to manually export each design from your old device and import each design to your new device.
- You want to work on the same design on multiple platforms.
With Shapr3D Cloud, your designs will be up to date on your devices and any changes will be automatically synced across all devices. You can pick up where you left off on a different device.
How do I link designs to my Shapr3D account?
In a nutshell, you have to link all existing designs on your device to your Shapr3D account. Follow these steps:
- Open the app (version 4.11 or newer) and log in to your account that you want to use for Shapr3D Cloud.
The following dialog will appear.
Select Link Designs.
If you'd like to associate the designs with a different account, select Switch Account.
Once you link designs to your account, you'll only see those designs when you're logged in to that account.
Can I link some designs to one Shapr3D account and the rest to my other accounts?
No. You can only link all designs to one account. If you need to separate designs between multiple accounts, first link your designs to an account which is subscribed to Pro; this way, you can manually export your designs in various file formats and import them when you're logged in to your other accounts. Then, link those designs to the relevant account.
I linked my designs to the wrong Shapr3D account. What should I do?
You can relink the designs to a different account:
- Open the app and log in with the account that was incorrectly connected to the designs.
- Export all designs.
- Log out.
- Log in again with the account that needs to be associated with the designs.
- Import the designs.
The imported designs will be automatically linked to the account.
I linked my designs to an account for a free plan and I can't export my designs. What do I do?

I can't see my designs. What should I do?
Make sure you're logged in to the account which is linked to the designs you're missing. Once you link your designs to a specific account, you can only see those designs when you're logged in.
