Join Shapr3D's beta testing group to help the team maintain the app's quality. The beta releases will follow the regular, bi-weekly release schedule of the live app. During the beta tests, keep using the app as you normally would — and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

What's Shapr3D Beta?
Shapr3D Beta is the beta version of the Shapr3D app. You can try the feature updates in the pre-release version at least a week before the official app is released to a wider audience. Plus, you can get direct access to the app’s developers.
The rules of the beta are simple: Keep using the Shapr3D app and on top of that, try Shapr3D Beta.
Your workspaces will remain intact after installing the beta.
How do I join the beta testing group?
On your iPad, open this link in the browser to join the beta group: https://testflight.apple.com/join/e7pZr7kp.
The link will work for both iPadOS and macOS builds but you have to open the link — and therefore initiate the beta process — on the iPad. Please note that TestFlight for macOS only runs on macOS Monterey.
How do I access the Beta?
Shapr3D Beta is distributed through TestFlight, which is the official beta testing app for Apple. Go to this section for more details.
TestFlight installs the app over the live app you have previously downloaded from the App Store. All your previous workspaces will still be available in Shapr3D Beta. You can continue working on them — the only difference is that you will be using the beta version of the app.
Is Shapr3D Beta’s quality good?
The Beta app will go through the same rigorous testing we currently do with all live releases. The risk of switching over to the beta is the same as downloading a new version of the app from the App Store.
That being said, we recommend keeping a backup of your designs outside of Shapr3D.
Why was the public beta group created?
This is the first official, ongoing beta group of the app. We’re launching it to receive quantitative and qualitative feedback before releases. Through Shapr3D Beta, we want to ensure that we release features that people like and find useful. We hope we’ll be able to provide an even more well-rounded solution for our users.
How do I download the Beta?
For general information about how beta testing works on iPadOS and macOS, check out TestFlight’s documentation.
Follow the steps below to start testing Shapr3D Beta:
- On your iPad, open this link in the browser to join the beta group: https://testflight.apple.com/join/e7pZr7kp.
The link will work for both iPadOS and macOS builds but you have to open the link — and therefore initiate the beta process — on the iPad. Please note that TestFlight for macOS only runs on macOS Monterey. - Download TestFlight from the App Store if you haven’t done so already. Then, install Shapr3D Beta via TestFlight.
Once you download the beta, a yellow dot will appear next to the app’s name and under the app icon on iPadOS.
- Go back to TestFlight and turn on Automatic Updates. This way, you’ll always have the latest beta version on your device.
- Use the app just like you’d normally do.
How do I give feedback?
Keep an eye out for our bi-weekly updates and let the Shapr3D team know if you have any feedback or comment. You can either start a thread in the Shapr3D Forums’s Shapr3D Beta group or create a ticket via the Support Portal. Make sure you’re logged in to your Shapr3D account before you submit a ticket.
When you send your feedback, please use this template below:
- Description of the bug
- Written description
- Visual assets: screenshot, screen recordings
- Workspace (in .shapr format, if possible)
- System/Device information
- iPad or Mac version (type, year, memory)
How do I opt out of the Beta?
You have two options:
-
Install the latest, live version directly from the App Store to override the beta. This way, you still have access to the beta, but you’ll be using the live version of the app. This will not remove you from our beta pool. Please note that we can’t guarantee backward compatibility; for example, if you created a design in the 6.x beta version, we can’t guarantee that that design will be opennable in the 5.x live version.
-
Opt out of TestFlight. To do so, open the TestFlight app, select Shapr3D, and tap Stop Testing. Follow the on-screen instructions to be removed from the beta pool. Your app will not be removed.
Which subscription-based features can I access in the Beta?
When you log in to your Shapr3D account in the Beta, your existing subscription plan will stay the same. That means that if you're already subscribed to Shapr3D Basic (free, limited edition), your subscription will remain free in the Beta and you can only access free features. If you’ve subscribed to either the Standard or Business plan, you’ll be able to access the Standard or Business features, respectively.
Subscribing to Standard or Business in the Beta
TestFlight doesn’t allow you to purchase real, in-app subscriptions. You will be allowed to go through the purchase process, but your card won’t be charged. In these cases, you get access to our paid features, but for a limited time only. Read more about testing in-app purchases here. |
If you’d like to upgrade your subscription, you can do so via the Shapr3D website: https://shapr3d.com/pricing. Read more about website purchases here.
Subscriptions purchased on the Shapr3D website are identical to the subscriptions you purchase in the App Store.
