Using the Chamfer/Fillet tool, you can create two different types of fillets: basic and circular. The basic fillet is a simple, curved transition between adjacent surfaces or faces. On the other hand, the circular fillet is a similarly rounded transition based on specific radii.
In the app, the default circular fillet type is a rolling ball with G1 surface continuity, but you can fine-tune the circular fillet by adjusting the corner and continuity types:
-
Rolling Ball: To understand rolling ball, imagine rolling a ball along two adjacent surfaces or faces so it simultaneously touches those surfaces or faces. The ball creates a path with a single constant radius – that rounded path is the fillet.
-
Setback: This type of corner is created from a curved surface with a variable radius, which means two edges have two or more different constant radii.
-
G1: This is a type of surface continuity that’s formed when two surfaces or faces share an edge and the tangent plane is equal for both surfaces or faces.
-
G2: This is a type of surface continuity that’s formed when:
- G1 continuity exists;
-
The rate at which the curvature changes along the shared edge is equal for both surfaces or faces.

Follow these steps to fillet edges:
-
Select the edges you want to fillet.
Make sure the blend type is set to “Auto.”
If you select a face or body, all connected edges will be automatically selected. -
Pull the selected edges to blend them. The fillet size is a positive value.
You can select the dimension label to define exact values of the fillet. If you’re using a mouse or trackpad with the iPad, type in the exact value and press the Return key to finalize the dimension. - Move the slider to adjust the fillet's curvature.
- Tap the Gear icon to customize the fillet corner (Rolling Back or Setback) and the surface continuity (G1 or G2).
- Tap the design space to finalize the fillets.
Adjust fillets
You can always fine-tune the fillet by selecting the filleted edge and changing the dimensions. Once you fillet an edge, you cannot change it into a chamfer without completely deleting the fillet, and vice versa. To delete it, just select the filleted face and select Delete or press the Delete key.
💡Shortcut💡: If you select the edges first, the menu is customized automatically. From this adaptive menu, go to Chamfer/Fillet.
When you're done blending the edges, tap anywhere in the design space to confirm the change.
