Project (3D)

You can use the Project icon-tools-project.png tool to cast or project your sketches, edges, faces, and bodies to another face, either as sketches or edges. With this tool, you can manipulate the projected sketches and edges on complex, non-planar faces.

To use the Project tool:

  1. Go to Tools > Project.
    For other methods of accessing this tool Accessing tools.
  2. Choose a Projection Type.
    • Edges - The projection will create new edges.
    • Sketches - The projection will create new sketches.
  3. Select the item you want to project. Each selection is indicated with a blue badge.
  4. Select the surface that you want to project on. The target surface will be colored purple, and you’ll see a preview of your projection. 
  5. To finish, select Done.

History settings

To manage history settings for the Project action, find the step for your specific projection and then view or modify the following:

  • Projection Surface – Click/tap Edit… or Select… to modify the projection surface and then select Done to finish.
  • Items to Project –  Click/tapEdit…or Select…to modify the items to project and then select Done.
