Launch Issues on HP Victus and Omen Laptops

Some users with HP Victus and HP Omen laptops may encounter issues launching Shapr3D for Windows. This is commonly due to how the system handles GPU selection, especially when using hybrid graphics (integrated + discrete).

These laptops typically ship with hybrid graphics enabled by default. This means the system dynamically switches between the integrated GPU (e.g., Intel) and the discrete GPU (e.g., NVIDIA). Shapr3D requires consistent use of the discrete GPU to render models and interface properly.

Important

This issue can occur in apps that use advanced graphics, such as CAD tools, 3D modeling software, or video games. It stems from how GPU usage is managed on devices with hybrid graphics, which is particularly common in gaming laptops.

To resolve the issue, force the system to use the discrete GPU via the OMEN Gaming Hub:

Steps to enable Discrete GPU mode:

  1. Open OMEN Gaming Hub from your Start menu.
  2. Navigate to the Performance Control or Graphics Switcher section
  3. Select Discrete Graphics Mode.
  4. Restart your laptop after applying the setting.

Note: This setting ensures that the system always uses the dedicated GPU for all apps, including Shapr3D.

Additional recommendations

  • Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date.
  • Reinstall Shapr3D after switching to Discrete Mode if the issue persists.
  • If you're unsure how to access the OMEN Gaming Hub, you can download it from the Microsoft Store.
