Shapr3D integrates directly with Prusa's slicing tools, so designs can be sent straight from the export menu to either Prusa EasyPrint or PrusaSlicer. The Slicer (by Prusa) export option works with a range of 3D printers, making it easy to go from model to print without manual file transfers.
Before you begin
To export to a slicer, make sure you have one of the following:
- A free Printables account to use Prusa EasyPrint. EasyPrint works with a range of 3D printers, so designs can be sent directly to your own printer after slicing.
- PrusaSlicer installed on your desktop to use PrusaSlicer
Export to a 3D printer slicer
- Go to Export and selectSlicer (by Prusa) from the format list.
- Adjust the export settings as needed. See Slicer export settings below.
- Choose how to open your file:
- SelectOpen in EasyPrint to send the file to Prusa EasyPrint in the browser for instant slicing.
- SelectOpen in PrusaSlicer to send the file to the PrusaSlicer desktop app for full slicing control.
Slicer export settings
Before exporting, you can adjust the following settings:
- Resolution – Controls the mesh quality of the exported file. Choose fromLow,High, orCustom.
- Include Mesh Bodies – When on, mesh bodies in your design are included in the export. On by default.
- Include Hidden Items – When on, hidden items in your design are included in the export. Off by default.
- File Name – Set a custom name for the exported file. Defaults to the project name.
EasyPrint vs PrusaSlicer
Both options send your file directly to Prusa's slicing tools, but serve different workflows.
Prusa EasyPrint
Prusa EasyPrint is a free browser-based slicer available on Printables. No installation needed, but requires a free Printables account.
Once your Printables account is set up:
- Select your printer.
Note: For first-time setup, follow the Prusa guide. - Choose a material.
- Adjust print settings.
- Send directly to your printer.
PrusaSlicer
PrusaSlicer is a full-featured desktop slicer with advanced print settings and full slicing control. Best for complex prints, custom printer configurations, or when you need fine-tuned control over slicing parameters.
To use PrusaSlicer:
- Open your file in PrusaSlicer.
- Configure your printer, material, and slicing settings.
- Slice the model and export or send to your printer.
