Export for 3D Printing to OrcaSlicer in Shapr3D

Shapr3D integrates directly with OrcaSlicer, so designs can be sent straight from the Export menu to your slicer without manual file transfers. Slicer (Orca) is compatible with a wide range of FDM printers, making it easy to go from model to print in just a few steps.

Before you begin

To export to OrcaSlicer, make sure you have the following:

Export to OrcaSlicer

  1. Go to Export and select Slicer (Orca) from the format list.
  2. Adjust the export settings as needed. See Slicer export settings below.
  3. Select Open in OrcaSlicer to send the file to the OrcaSlicer desktop app.

Slicer export settings

Before exporting, you can adjust the following settings:

  • Resolution – Controls the mesh quality of the exported file. Choose from Low, High, or Custom.
  • Include Mesh Bodies – When on, mesh bodies in your design are included in the export. On by default.
  • Include Hidden Items – When turned on, hidden items in your design are included in the export. Off by default.
  • File Name – Set a custom name for the exported file. Defaults to the project name.

Using OrcaSlicer

OrcaSlicer is a full-featured open-source desktop slicer compatible with a wide range of FDM printers. Best for complex prints, custom printer configurations, or when you need fine-tuned control over slicing parameters.

To use OrcaSlicer:

  1. Open your file in OrcaSlicer.
  2. Configure your printer, material, and slicing settings.
  3. Slice the model and export or send to your printer.
